ENGINEERING: 4 years of Life lived!!

I describe it as wonderful, superb, priceless, worth it, proud Engico (copyright only to my college) and much more!! But was also of roller coaster ride, unorganized chaos, the uncertainty principle, etc. Yes!! this all goes to the 4 years of holiday (or may be not) well spent, time well managed(with friends for obvious reasons ;) ), a journey spent with nerds, geeks, extroverts, all-rounder’s, etc. well we all belonged to the same set. The set of ‘wannabe ENGINEERS’!!

ENGINEERING by definition is the application of scientific, economic, social and practical knowledge in order to design, build and maintain structures, machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. To me it’s a must have experience, hilarious but amazingly true. And engineering college is the place where you are rewarded (or may be punished) for your 12th standard and entrance marks. A place where your efforts may not be tangibly recognized or awarded. But the mantra lies in enjoying the journey more than the destination. The process matters more than the end.

This is how it passes:
  • Lectures are meant for physical presence (unless you wanna derive something useful from it).
  • Attendance is very important (you never know, may get screwed anytime) so try maintaining it … Proxy is the saviour!
  • Back bencher’s party always rock. Once joined never leave it. Our well-formed opinion may hardly matter to anyone though (sad  but happens :D)
  • Practical’s: learn a way to pass your time.
  • Assignments: master the art of googling (if u do it first!) else it’s all copy paste.
  • Events (Tech or non-tech): Always participate, they help you grow. No harm in loosing. Bonus! They at times give you attendance.
  • Xerox (the photocopy actually) machine: Is your favourite machine. You spend tremendous amount of pocket money on it.
  • Preparatory holidays pass in serious STUDYing (S= Sleeping(study for the smarter clad), T= Troubling friends, U= Unlimited texting (thanks to message packs and now whatsapp) , Y= Yawning all time)
  • Notes: Master the art of studying via notes (couldn’t yet still). Books are at times just too much overload. Notes tend to be precise. Plus they are return on investment. :P
  • Exams are the times where you are tested for what you have not studied.
  • Passing is also statistics (go through previous years papers)Also master at least two modules of the syllabus to get through (safer side).
  • Vivas: During viva Examiner: Is there any topic that you know?? Moreover you may feel a criminal. If you can’t convince CONFUSE ;)
  • Once out people bombard you with questions, make you feel nothing less than a celebrity.
  • Every point of time somebody knows the answer, you just need to ask.
  • Marks above 40 are bonus. But somehow manage to get an average of 60% (the higher still better). Most people prefer employing machines.
  • Results are always shocking. Revaluation results are the greatest hope. Fall and rise of marks is a share market. More of luck then your efforts.
  • Project : Hell put all your efforts to gather information, research a lot, analyse, design, etc. In short backtrack what you have learnt in 4 years to implement something new. Be proud of your work finally results may or may not turn up good.
To to sum it up:
  • F.E. Fond of Engineering
  • S.E. Sick of Engineering
  • T.E. Tired of Engineering
  • B.E. Bachelor of Engineering (Finally :))
P.S.: Friends make it all better to live. Professors and rules may be hell.
